Pre crock pot era this recipe is easily adapted tot he slow cookers that make our life much easier in the fall when we are all about driving the kids to school, sports, dance, scouts and a million other activities that all get going again in the fall. This time of year is also the best time for fresh apple cider as the apples are abundantly in season and the cost of this expensive juice comes down and can be found now at farmers' markets fresh off the farm. Potato pancakes would be a great side dish for this well spiced.
