Old Time Beef Stew, vintage recipe for Frugal Friday

Frugal Friday is back and this time we have a good old fashioned Beef stew for you to make.  Inexpensive cuts of beef were cut into cubes to be slow cooked into tender goodness both because it is delicious and because those tough to cook pieces of meat were cheap. Root veggies have always been good buys and also become glorious when slow cooked to perfection. Being that stews are also hearty meals that make a lot,  they go a far way in feeding a family.  Better a day later as leftovers makes this a great twice a week meal, but if your family isn't the kind to eat leftovers for lunch or a second time that week it also freezes very well for another day. This not only saves money but time which we all know is just as an important commodity.

Also a time saver is the fact that all this can be pre-chopped and tossed into a crock pot in the morning to come home to hot meal all finished at the end of a long day.
