Home style Tomato Egg-drop Soup, homemade vintage recipe, lunch or dinner

Baby it's cold outside and nothing warms you up like a nice steamy bowl of soup.  Traditionally tomato soup has been a winter lunch staple with a grilled cheese or little fish crackers swimming along side our spoons. This is just as good with a soup as any but with a little Asian twist. The added protein of an egg is welcome in the dish and is easy on the budget. Frugality is important and has been a must for many people past and present.

I know the end of this recipe is cut off. It happens a lot when you find these vintage recipes as little cut outs in other books or tins. This is easy though, reduce heat until the bubbling is stopped and soup is still but hot. Very slowly stir soup and por in a light stream of beaten egg. This will cause those long strings found in traditional egg drop soups. If you are not sure about this feel free to cook up a soft scrambled egg and break up in to the soup. It is a different texture but still very yummy.
