Raisin Griddle Cookies, vintage stovetop cookie recipe, camping

In the Great Depression there were people living without what we so often take for granted.  Imagine living in a camp or cabin with no stove or oven. Griddle plates over fires or camp stoves to do all your cooking on. This is where recipes like these cookies come from. The ingenuity of the house wife looking to make a treat for her family on what little she had.
The nature of the recipe makes it a great addition to the camping menu and can be made in the mountain pie maker for ease, or fun, if need be.
