Homeschool activities without breaking the bank.

Jump on Pinterest and any other homeschooling blog, board or page and there are always these awesome trips to take with the kids. Museums and Classes, roller rinks and riding schools, all sorts of things that cost money, often a lot of money and if you are like me and have several children at home those costs add up fast, too fast.  After 9 years of doing this on a shoe string budget I've found quite a few activities and learning experiences that are affordable and fun.

Many of the museums if not already free have free days. Call or go online for your local museum and check out their schedule.

Colleges often offer free programs to locals such as S.T.E.M days, sports camps, and theater. For instance our local college offers a tennis camp in 4 week sessions, twice a week for an hour each session. All free and much loved.

State parks, preserves and conservation areas are full of free things to do such as  hikes, tours, and activities surrounding the areas history. One of my favorites is not too far from us where the preserve holds lessons and tasting for maple syrup making each spring. I also really enjoy the ones that have haunted history tours like Gettysburg does.

Tours of factories are great especially for those who like food and machinery. Places like Snyder's Of Hanover Pretzels have free tours and samples!

Bowling with the kids is fun and can be free!

Food stores are a great place to visit and not just for your food. Many offer tours for small groups and classes so gather up your co-op or homeschooling group for a free trip.

Libraries, fire houses, ambulance squads and Red Cross buildings also usually have free tours to do with small groups.
