Old Fashioned Prune Bread, vintage quick bread recipe
Tea time is a favorite part of the day for my kids. Yes it's just snack time but it is more about stopping to take a few moments of the day to just enjoy them. We sit down and have that little snack with a little talking and just quietly enjoying each other's company. It's a chance to bond a little each day. The 15 to 20 minutes help to refresh body and soul.
We serve up tea hot or cold. Juice, coffee, the drinks and snacks are not the focus, but are a big part of tea time. Snacks have become a barrage of sugared prepackaged items the big companies call food. I do try to have our treats be homemade and for my part simple. Easy to make cookies, breads, fruit, cheese and veggies all displayed pretty on a plate. It's not hard to do nor does it take much time but the little touches, they can take a snack to a memory .
Please do not balk at the thought of prunes! These dried plums are not the devil. They are in fact quite tasty and lend a lovely flavor to this easy to make quick bread.
