I am in Leadership with Avon and almost daily someone on my team wants to know why they aren't making as much as they want to. Why do other people sell more, recruit more, make more. The not so simple, yet simple answer is this. "You get what you put into it". You don't get things for free. People aren't just going to shop your business, Avon or any direct sales "just because". No you need to work it.
Any business you are in, if you treat it as a filler for when you are bored or as a hobby you are only going to make a small amount of money, You won't have a big team with hard working reps because you are their leader and if you aren't putting in the hours they won't either. Hobby selling is fine just don't expect $1000 orders.
Part time. Now many people selling Avon or direct sales, part time is exactly what they are looking for. They want to work 4-6 hours a campaign and bring home a couple extra dollars to off set groceries or go out to eat. That's great if that is what your goal for your business is, but again don't expect $1000 orders from just a few hours a month.
Treat your business as a full time job and earn the money of a full time job. Set that goal and a couple hours a day and do it, I mean really do it! Get books in people's hands, recruiting info, product or samples. Post, Tweet, or Instagram, get your stuff out there! Like any job the more hours you put in the more you make. Be smart about it though, be polite and upbeat because the next biggest thing is your attitude. You want people to be happy to see you!
So if you are struggling to get your business up and going, stop. Write down what you do and how much time you take to do it. Take a good hard look and decide what type of business you are running and what you can do to make it they type you want to be running. The main factor isn't your product, isn't your team leader/company. The main factor is you.
