Rescued ... a puppy tail!

Just a little bitty story or our bitty doggy. More to this Avon Lady then just make up!:

Once upon a time we were a family mourning the loss of a beloved dog.  The kids were sad, we were sad but no one was sadder then our hound.  Poor pooch stopped eating, to the point of needing IV fluids from the vet.  What to do, what to do?  Suggested by our vet, a  trip to the local SPCA was in order to find a new friend.
We got to the SPCA, kids and dog in tow to meet a lab/mastiff mix we had seen online.  Two minutes into speaking with the people at the desk we realized the dog we came to see wouldn't be a good match for us.  As we walked through the dog area we said hello to all sorts of breads from little mixed Chihuahuas to a big ol' boy Bloodhound.  We decided to meet a mixed lot of pups, a pit/lab mix, a pit/hound, the gorgeous blood hound and a little mutt of who knows what.
A little mutt was first and though she got on fine with our pooch he just didn't seem to care either way that she was there. Next came the pit/lab who again was sweet but just didn't gel with our pup. So on to the next a pit/hound mix that was nervous around my husband and our pooch.  So in he went and out came the bloodhound.  There is nothing quite comparable to two hounds who instantly want to hunt together and begin to bay in happy companionship.  There is also no way to have that chorus in our neighborhood with out a whole lot of complaints.
As we were coming round to realizing that it wouldn't be the day to find a new family member one of the folks from the desk came out with a skinny little beagle with a bad limp.  She tells us how he was new, brought in after being found on the side of the road. The little fella had obviously been hit by a car, Open wounds and a clearly dislocated hip attested to that.  Not that it stopped this very quite little man from instantly bonding with our pooch, our kids and us.
Clearly some medical attention was needed before our new baby (actually he's maybe 3 or 4 years old) could come home. So off  he was sent to the SPCA's vet in Philadelphia to have a full work up and to be neutered.  He came home the next week wearing the "cone of shame" to stop him from licking the multiple spots that had needed stitching from whatever had happened to him.  Still with everything he must have gone through this little sweetheart never growled, never nipped, never barked.  He was just happy to get in the car and go home. Adjusting from a kennel to a house with not only a bunch of humans, but another dog and all together too many kitties should have been overwhelming for the pup but he took it all in stride.  Just happy for a warm place or lap to cuddle up on.
As wounds healed the lovable doggy became more playful.  Bonded with our family and pooch. The cats, well that still needs a little more time though by the wagging of our little man's tail he has no idea they aren't playing with him.  He's healthy and happy and a bouncing ball of love.  His story has just started what we hope will be the greatest part of his story.

Update 1/14/17
Our little pup is no longer skinny and scrawny. He's healthy and robust and a much loved companion.  This spoiled pooch has no idea doggies are supposed to sleep on the floor and fully believes every bed in the house is his!
