Found treasures

When you start selling with a company as old as Avon people start giving you antiques and other older knick knacks said to be collectable.  Usually people give us the cool shaped glass bottles Avon has always had (hubby does these up for Etsy)  or jewelry.  This time though one of my closest brought me this baby,  Circa 1947 and found at a garage sale.  It's beat up and obviously well used with notes in the margins and scrap papers with recipes and what not left in-between the pages, but that is part of it's charm.

My favorite chapter I think is the "Americas 1947 Gracious Living"  rules for entertaining. The entire chapter walks you through how to do everything from choosing the type of event to the table settings, food and clothing to wear!   There is of coarse all sorts of recipes for eggs and fish, veggies and meats, even a complete guide to pressure cooking.. Actually I am going to try a few of those recipes...

I love holding on to items from the past. They give us moments that would be forgotten if not for those of us who treasure these little bits of the past.
