It's the season for hunting! I know my hubby has been on the river every chance he gets and feathers have been a flying.  In the good old fashioned "waste not, want not" vein of thinking this recipe I actually looked for.  Duck livers are very yummy and most often referred to as foie gras in restaurants and on TV.   Now I used a potato starch not flour for coating the livers due to needing to be gluten free but it worked just fine.  The kids and I covered ours in hot sauce like we do with everything, our ketchup, but hubs just ate them.  The second time I added veggies more like a stir fry and yum.  If you don't have a hunter to get these off of feel free to ask the butcher, if not duck and goose they will have chicken and or turkey livers.  Follow me on Pinterest , Google and Facebook ! I know you just saw melted fat and wanted to run!  lol it's ok you can replace with butter, lard, bacon grease, coconut oil what ever.  This can be baked in a side dish as well just cover it to keep from getting too dry. This is basic and so many variations can be made. I'll list here a few additives that can be tossed in and mixed with others.  I'll include a couple much loved combos in our home. Gluten free breads can also be used but make sure you have enough fat to keep them moist. Additives Meat: Sage sausage, chorizo, bacon, crab Veggies: onion celery shallot fennel Fruit: diced apples diced pear raisins dried fruit tid bits cranberries dried or fresh Crunchies: walnuts pecans almonds sunflower seed pumpkins seed chia seed Combos: This is our traditional stuffing on our home. Often eaten as leftovers as it's own meal with a little gravy. Sage sausage, dried fruit bits  walnuts onion celery A fresher versio

A holiday favorite! Once Halloween is over the eggnog comes out on store shelves and though tasty it's really no where near as good as a homemade batch of the thick and creamy treat.  Now for many who are worried about egg germs, egg substitutes from the store work just as well as the real thing so don't shy away because of that. If you still need it thicker use 3/4 the amount of milk and the last 1/4 use a stiff whipped cream to thicken things up a bit.

💋 Right here, Right now 💋 One of the hardest types of people to shop for are the teenage girls of the world. 😂 Beleive me as the mother of 3 of them and Aunt to many more I feel your pain.  I gave up this year. I decided to spend quality time shopping with my hardest to shop for online this morning. Yup I gave her a price she could shop to, her sister too. Then I kept that freebie set for myself after almost an hour of  "OMG, TTR, and LIT.." ( I only know what one of those is and they spoke in letters)  they seemed to have fun! So in a few days a package will show up at their door and their parents can deal either the high pitched bat squeals of delight!

A tasty and fancy way to serve up a little seafood on the holidays or just for dinner.  Much like a stuffed clam (my favorite as a kid by the way) these can be baked in the top shell or a ramekin. Even better stuffed inside chicken,  thin sliced beef steak or and I like this a lot, baked in a biscuit  kind of like a little crabby pot pie. These little pies as I call them I like to have as hors d'oeuvres. Speaking of hor d'oeuvres mushrooms also are a great vessel for this filling. Due to allergies in our home I don't get to make these often but on the occasion I can this is a recipe I have used over the last two years several times.  I have used prepared mustard in place of the dry and gluten free bread crumbs both successfully.

I just found this on my shelf while looking for another book. I was given this cookbook, for the obvious reason of it being an Avon book, (debatable if for the company, by the company or by another company but I love it so who cares)  by a customer and friend. I am going to post a week or two of recipe of the day from this book. This first week will be in theme for Christmas!
