No more cable, no more dish!

Did you read that right? Did I say no more cable! No dish? No T.V.? I did, I did, well to the cable and dish anyway.  We did in fact turn off out dish service a couple months ago and we haven't missed it at all. Now I am not saying we do not watch T.V., because we do. Just not via the big companies anymore. we have many new options. You may ask why we would turn off the T.V., and it's a good question. I was sick and actually sitting in our living room for days and watching what my family did. It took no time for me to realize we didn't watch regular T.V., in fact minus 3 shows we didn't use it at all! The Netflix, used, but not the dish service.  So after a little exploring to see if we could watch these 3 shows else where for little to no extra cost it was a no brainer to turn off the over $80 a month service.  Yes we pay for some services but all in all we save so much money on something we didn't use. One of the shows we watch we couldn't get for free but e...

Gluten Free Baked Coconut Rice Pudding, homemade dessert recipe

Image
I have a confession, I ♡ rice pudding! There I said it!  Now I don't mean the stuff out of a box with rice mixed in. No I mean good old fashioned baked rice pudding. The creamy dense kind. I also have a pre schooler with a new found infatuation with coconut. Combine that with trying to eat less processed foods, especially sugars I set my self to a challenge to make a rice pudding that was yummy, had no white sugar and had coconut.  Now I'm not completely paleo or anything so I did use white rice, actually we had a quart of it left over from take out so good way to use that up, right? Well trials 1-4, yup epic failures. 5, now 5 is a keeper! So I share with you my Baked coconut rice pudding. Ingredients : 1 quart cooked white rice 1 can organic  regular coconut milk (sweetened if you like a sweeter pudding) 1/4 cup local raw honey 2 eggs 1 tsp. Organic Vanilla extract 1 cup grated organic coconut Pre heat oven to 350° In a bowl beat together coconut milk, e...

Fundraiser on Facebook

Image
I have been asked to help with an online Facebook vendor event that is being held to make money for a women named Amanda that is struggling with cystic fibrosis.  I have agreed to 50% of my commissions from online sales to go to this fundraiser.  That's about 10% of sales until there are a certain amount of orders, then that doubles. Please feel free to go to the vendor event page and shop all of the vendors!

I am an Avon lady by trade and I use my make up everyday. That's not to say I always use it for pretty things!  As a kid I spent some time with a make up artist  who showed me that everyday, around the house items and some make up can go a long way. Below are a couple of my zombie loves. Yes minus the fake blood all of the make up used is Avon!  First up the not so gory, just starting to turn look! Second the gory, bloody diva! I  confess this one needed an eye patch as well.  Make is fun. Fun pretty and fun...not so pretty! I ♡ make up!

Jewelry In Candles New Release Each Week JIC has a new Release and this week it is the fabulous Men's scent. Not just for men of course this candle and tart sets do come in both male and female jewelry.

There was a time when no one bought Valentine's. They were handmade tributes to your love. They can still be. Simple hand drawn notes can be just as, if not sexier than some run of the mill store bought sentiment. These simple tiny notes above are hand drawn on folded unlined index cards. Placed with a flower or homemade dinner they are the perfect tiny touch that your love will hold dear.  The cost of the media glorified business of Valentine's day can be harsh on anyone's pocketbook. It doesn't have to be so. A small gift with much thought with a handmade tag is worth more than any $1000 necklace and if it doesn't then perhaps that is a trait one should dwell on in thought.

The Claddagh The most romantic of Irish symbols

Image
The Claddagh, a story of Romance Now as is true of all good Irish tales the story may vary from telling to telling, storyteller to storyteller.  I have tried to stick to the bare bones of the tale though for you all.  An Irish fisherman named Robert Joyce left his home in Galway, Ireland to set sail, off to make ends meet as so many young men did. He left behind the love of his life, his Margaret.  The ship he was on was bound for the West Indies, when pirates  took over the vessel. The pirates killed or worse enslaved the crew members. A kidnapped Joyce, was sold into the servitude of  a goldsmith whose shop was in a land far from his home and Margaret. Though forced to do the work, Robert was good at being a goldsmith.  His skills soon exceeded even those of the master who had trained for decades. Though years passed his love for Margaret never faded, he could never forge...
